Have you ever had one of those mornings when you are driving to work with an oatmeal container in the back seat, only to get to work and see that 1/4 of it has dumped into your floor board? You say a quick curse word, clean as much of it up as you can while the 100 mph winds mess up the coif that you so carefully sculpted this morning, then stomp inside. Then you grab your coffee mug, bowl, and the oatmeal only to drop the remainder of the oatmeal container ALL OVER your office floor. Thousands of little flakey oats scattered in your doorway. Have you ever had one of those mornings? No? Well I did. Super fantastic start to my day.

OCD
I admit it. I suffer from OCD. I won't leave the house until everything is checked five or six times. After that, I lock the door, unlock it and go back to check a final time. I worry about stupid things. Things that other people in their right mind tend to look at as a tiny spec of nothingness in their world of worry. I fret, whine and freak out about the toaster being plugged in when we never use it. My flat iron is always unplugged and positioned just right on the toilet seat so that it doesn't, by some freaky act of nature, fall into the trash can and catch on fire. I get eye rolls from Mark when I go to make sure the hairdryer is unplugged for the third time, making us 5 more minutes late.
I don't put collars on my cats because I'm afraid they will get stuck under something and the clasp won't break like it's advertised to do. I won't leave plastic bags out ANYWHERE. I leave the house everyday wondering if I locked the back door when I know I did. I for some reason can't help torturing myself all the way to work.
I recently saw a sign on some light posts in our neighborhood about a missing boxer. I immediately thought that this said boxer could very well have been stolen. Why not? People are desperate these days. Take a boxer, wait for a reward. Take a boxer, steal another one and mate them. Puppies equal money. Then I can't help but call my husband to tell him to make sure he keeps an eye on our boxer while she is outside. Someone could just snatch her up like that. I refused to think that it just ran away.
Yesterday, Mark and I were sitting on the couch and he notices a car, creeping, in front of the house. He starts to get paranoid, telling me to go get my camera. They could possibly be looking for Lola. The car turns around in another driveway and slowly goes the other way. He is still freaking out, holding Lola away from the window, frantically looking back and forth to see where they went. They could be stalking our dog.
Do you want to know what I said? Do you want to know what Ms. OCD/paranoid said?
"Stop being so paranoid. They are probably just lost if they turned around." Then I turned back to my magazine without giving it a second thought.
Now does this make any sense at all. I should have been up in the window with him getting a license plate number and making anonymous phone calls to the non-emergency police phone number. It's what OCD/paranoid people do. Right?
I sit back and think about these things and wonder to myself. I wonder why it's okay for me to be the freaked out one, but the moment Mark thinks something crazy, I look at him like he's just lost his mind.

Get Back

Ok, I like Kathryn Heigl. I first saw her in My Father the Hero in 1994. I've always liked her. I'm not exactly sure what happened recently, but apparently she made some comments about something and was called a hypocrite, ungrateful and few other things. Some even said she shouldn't be able to act anymore. I think I even heard a rumor that the director of Grey's Anatomy was so angry with her that they planned to kill her off with a brain tumor. I don't know what happened but I do have to say I became a bit irritated when I saw her accept an award for 27 Dresses at the peoples choice awards.
She came plowing up the stage, with the cast and some of the crew of the film, and made a b-line for the microphone. She did, however, slap hands with a few audience members. When she got up there she grabbed her co-star and just started rambling. Of course it was all about how great the fans are and that it wouldn't have happened without them and suddenly it turned to me, me, me. Not one other person said a thank you or anything. Right towards the end of her speech she was all "I'm so glad you guys are ok with me." She kind of squeaked away from the mic as she said that. I don't know why but I got kind of annoyed with that. Maybe it's just me. Probably, really, shouldn't be a huge deal, but for some reason it felt so self centered to me.
Of course your fans are going to be ok with you. Most of the things said of you came straight from Hollywood and the media. I think it must just be me. I prefer stars that are modest and humble. She just seemed overly ecstatic, as if her career all hung on this award. Ok, I'm just being retarded. I'm not making any sense. This is one of those things that only I can understand. I guess Hollywood can do that to you. People would hate me. I would get extremely annoyed at people mis-understanding me and then turning around and making me the bad guy because of my views. Maybe I just really wanted to play this video:

FYI: This is not my normal everyday listening. I just liked it because of Tom Cruise.

Resolutions
A New Year! Not quite a new me though. My resolutions aren't all that ambitious and I know that that 20 pounds won't go anywhere, just like it didn't the last 3 years in a row. It's kind of hard to keep resolutions don't you think? You make them and then realize, hell, I'm really not going to change. You have to make a decision to change your state of mind before you make that decision to dedicate 6 days a week to eating healthy and working up a hideous sweat. My resolution was to go to church more. What did I do on Sunday? Stayed at home and read a devotional. I guess it's a start. I played on my laziness. Laziness due to the fact that I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday painting our office room in order for us to add a few extra bucks to the value of our home. Selling our home was not on my resolution list but with the way the world has decided to work, we may not have a choice. That's another story for a different day though.
I would like to change my state of mind though and be a better person inside and out. I do want to be healthier, more successful, and I want to make the people around me much happier. I want to find a way to make a difference. Maybe going to church shouldn't be my only resolution. Maybe I need to seek out God a whole lot more. It seems like He really is the only way in which my life will be complete. No amount of money, talent, success or friendship has filled that hole that I always seem to find in my heart. I guess that's where my state of mind change should start. Find God, find that path to happiness. If doing everything He tells me to do is what makes me happy then so be it. I don't think I have met to many people yet, with a strong faith in God, who are constantly disappointed.
Happy New Year and here's to you and your resolutions. May you stick to them . . . This time. =0)

Ninja Kitty?
My cat Bleu is all of about 9 pounds. She's all black with a little white on her chest and belly and is altogether just kind of tiny. She's so black that when she sleeps you can't make out any part of her face. It's kinda cool. A few months ago I started to think that we may have a ghost or something in the house. I kept hearing these footsteps. Footsteps that sounded as if they were coming from a child. They were quick and soft. I remember one night while I was in bed and I heard them. Totally scared the bejeezus ( how the hizzle do you spell that?) out of me and then Bleu jumped on the bed launching my heart into my chest. I was in denial for a moment, thinking there is no way that she could be that loud on the floor. My other cat is 16 pounds so how in the world do I not hear him coming? I went uncomfortably to sleep.
That next morning I woke up and heard it again and looked cautiously around the corner to see Bleu walking into the room as the footsteps followed the same steps that she took. My 9 pound cat has some super hard foot steps. It's funny to watch her walk. It helped me understand what the deal was. She sort of has a little bounce which obviously is what makes the noise. Sky, my 16 pounder, doesn't make the noise because he takes these ridiculously regal long strides. As if he is the most prized cat ever. He's quite stuck up.
Bleu must have come from ninja cats too. Not that she jumps up in the air and karate chops, or balances on one foot in the middle of the ocean on a post, but she knows a thing or two about pressure points. I swear if she were to sit on your neck for some crazy reason, the pressure she puts on your neck would certainly be sleeper hold worthy. I don't know how she does it. You would think it would be nice and cozy with her laying on your stomach with her meek 9 poundness, ( I think I just made up a word) until suddenly you feel like your rib is going to break. Then you look at her like "YOUR TRYING TO KILL ME" or "I DON'T NEED A BREAST REDUCTION" and she in turn gives you the quick twitch up of the head and slants her eyes as if to say "I've still got the touch. I could kill you with one quick turn of my paw. Muuuuuaaahahahahahaeow!."
Sky on the other hand doesn't have to do a thing but let his dead weight sit in the middle of you stomach and you quickly begin to turn purple. They are quite the talented duo. A fat cat who can't hear and acts like a prince and a black cat with ninja pressure point capabilities.

Goldielocks
Goldielocks would be pissed! There is not one place in Nashville where you can get a coffee that is juuusst right. When I mean just right, I'm not talking about cream and sugar, bitter or not bitter. I'm talking about juust right as in doesn't take 7 layers of tissue out of your cheeks and leaves your tongue so blistered you can't taste food for a week! What's the deal? Do these restaurants think that our mouths run at 200 degrees? Instead of a caf and decaf, they need a boiling lava hot and a warm for those of us who prefer to keep our tongues and not have a melted hole in our cheeks.
This is also annoying due to the fact that I want coffee in the morning and I prefer not to water it down with ice, nor do I fancy letting it sit and stare at me on my desk while it cools. I could get some refrigerated creamer, but then that would mean I would have to go to the store and I hate the store. I'm sure many agree that coffee is your morning pick me up and it's nothing to fool around with. I have a giant cup of joe staring me in the face right now that's to hot to even look at. It's ridiculous. Maybe I'm a weenie, but I don't care. I would like to be able to talk by the end of the week.
That does it. I'm starting a coffee shop and I'm calling it Warm, or just right, or Goldielocks. Well, you get the point.

Yesterday I was thinking . . .
I was honestly thinking about deleting this blog yesterday and just hanging on to the photography blog and portfolio. I was thinking to myself how difficult it is to keep up with it and always find something interesting to write about. I was also thinking, 'who in the world other than friends and family reads this thing anyway'. Today I get on and I am pleasantly surprised to find that my name is on at least three other blogger sites. How cool is that to check these places out and find that you are, even if it's in the tiniest way, a bit of inspiration to someone out there. This has come at a great time for me because honestly, things haven't been going so great for me. The world is harsh, as we all know, the job is rocky and my brain is just confused. I've been a bit down in the dumps and always on the verge of tears. Poor Mark is probably at his wits end trying to comfort me. I appreciate and love him so much for that. Seeing my blog on those others has really brightened my day a bit though. So thanks, Meagan, Bruce and LC for making me feel like some of what I say is kinda cool and fun and that this isn't a complete waste of time. Thanks also to all my friends and family who check this thing everyday to see what I have in store for you. This is my creative outlet.

I'll be sticking around.

How Nature Intended?
I am not a homophobe. Really I'm not but I am kind of disgusted with Hollywood at the moment. I watch about 6 or 7 TV shows during the week and about half of those have decided that their characters need lesbian interaction. What in the hell is wrong with these people? Are they being picketed by gay and lesbian supporters outside the studio for more exposure? It's kind of sad actually that the creators of these shows are that unimaginative. I'm sure you could find another way for two people to relate in a show other than their one year stint as a gay or lesbian couple. They could have met rock climbing in Europe when tragically a rope snapped and the other one save the other's life or something. Well, that's not to imaginative, but you get my point. It's like "Hmmmmm . . . her character is boring and she's out of a relationship. Oh wait, I know, let's try something new and have her fall in love with a girl. Lot's of kissing though and talk about under the belt." GAG ME WITH A SPOON! JAB MY EYEBALL OUT WITH A DULL KNIFE!
I believe that you can sincerely love a person of the same sex but I also believe that it is wrong to sleep with that person as well. Relations (haha, i just used that word didn't I) should be left between a man and a woman. Look, if you want to be in a gay lesbian relationship then whatever. I don't agree with it but I won't judge you because you are still a person I know outside of that kind of relationship but why does it have to be promoted all over the fricking place like it's the best alternative lifestyle. "Go kiss a girl if you are bored with your life and status." It's stupid. Does anyone else realize that all these people had to get here with a sperm and egg? It's how nature intended, right?

Nothing New
Alright, alright, alright (think Dazed and Confused here). Anyway, I most certainly am slacking on the blog keeping. It's kind of a difficult thing to do when your mind is in a million different creative regions and only able to focus on one at a time. Either that or you have spent the last two days curled in the fetal position trying to coax your brain into believing that it really is ok NOT to up-chuck. Well, that only tells your brain one thing "it's coming out somewhere and anyone that needs that toilet better make a reservations." Yessssssss. How else would I want to start the "Holiday Season" other than with the shits. For two days. Non-stop. Thanks brain for actually listening. It's more dignifying to whistle beef than to make all those noises you wouldn't want hell to hear. Speaking of noises, Mark was actually sick two weekends ago and his brain didn't wave the white vomit flag. I don't know if any of you have ever, ladies, heard a guy get sick but it has to be one of the most excruciating things I have ever heard. I think I almost called a paramedic at one point. I've been with him for 11 years and not once heard him toss chunks until a few weekends ago. He made noises that Steven Tyler only dreams of making. I felt bad for him knowing that I couldn't do anything but get him some sleeping/anti-nausea pills and let it ride out. Mmmmm. . . my life. So full of excitement.
On a bittersweet note, I finally finished the Twilight books and am clinging to every bit of Twilight internet whatever until the movie comes out. How sick am I? Here I sit, 27 and I have crush and obsession with these books like a 3 year old has with the word NO Mmmm. . . if only i could . . . oh never mind. I'm just making it worse. The soundtrack kicks some serious ass though, with bands like Muse, Iron and Wine, Paramore and Robert Pattinson himself (plays Edward Cullen in the Twilight Film). I have never been more excited to see a movie in my whole life. Yes, this does it. I am a complete dweeb. All my friends were right about me.

Eh.
Whew!! It's been quite a while since I have written. Lately I can't remember to wake up. I swear I've been sleep walking through the days. My house is a dirty mess, clothes aren't washed and dishes and getting up and cleaning themselves they are so dirty. I've had my nose shoved in these Twilight books, not to mention picture taking and wedding events. I swear. Not much else has been going on though. Thank GOD! I don't know how much more I could take. I think I have swayed into a bit of a depression with it all. Just too much to do and not enough hours in the day to take care of it all. So, just a random thought: "HOW HOT IS ROBERT PATTINSON?!" Hey, I know I know, I'm a married woman. I'm only human and I've only realized that just recently. Ha. Not like none of you haven't swooned after Brad Pitt or Scarlet Johansen (men?). I am looking forward to Halloween tomorrow. I've decided to dress up as Smurfette thanks to a new friend and her fantastic ideas. my outfit is probably a sad attempt, but hey, I think Smurfette got tired of wearing the same old thing so I need to mix it up for her a bit. Here is my struggle though. I can find tights in every color and form accept the blue that I need. Really? I mean who would wear neon green tights before they wore the blue. Give me a break. I've got until tomorrow to find blue tights with feet! I'm not about to paint my legs blue. I have a photo shoot the next day and it's going to be all I can do to get the blue paint off of my face as to not scare the two year old that I'm taking pictures of. Maybe the lollipop will help me out there. Anyway, just checking in, saying hello and Happy Halloween.

A Seed to Grow On
My sister called me earlier today and can't remember exactly what she said to make me think this but I did.
How cool would it be if the process for getting a house was as simple as buying a seed, planting it and waiting six months for it to grow? It would start out as a nice two bedroom two car garage with a car, and completely furnished. Every time you add onto your family, (i.e. a child) the house grows a brand new completely furnished room to your liking. Also there would never be a gas crisis because all the cars are insanely powerful and completely electric. Kind of like in Back to the Future when Marty's mom puts a quarter sized pizza in the oven and out pops, after about 10 seconds mind you, a delicious family size pizza. I want a seed to plant a house. Oh, not to mention, it would be totally organic.

27
Today I am 27. It seems like such a short time ago that I was riding on a smurf mobile, eating Cap'n Crunch and watching good cartoons on Saturday mornings holding my blanket and Barbie without a care in the world. Every year runs by much quicker than the other. This last year has been a whirl wind though. Family issues, relationship issues, new houses, new babies, milestones, etc. Every year you turn older you tend to look back and ask yourself if you missed anything. Could you have done something different. Then you realize, HOLY HELL! 40 is 13 years away. I know, I skipped right over 30 to 40. That depressing thought hit me the other day. I know it's not like it's tomorrow or anything, but it's too fast. A lot of my child hood is still so vivid that it's not right for all else to rush up and goose you in the ass! I guess I wouldn't be me if I didn't worry about something I can't control though.
So far I have had an excellent birthday week. I got a new camera. A Rebel XTi. I can't wait to take some pictures for you all and post them. I also have a new nephew. Easton McClure was born yesterday, bright eyed, handsome and healthy. I will post a picture of him here soon as well. Tonight is dinner and a movie and then . . . well, wink, wink. Although 30 and 40 aren't far away, I plan on trying my best to not worry about or think about it. After all, age is just a number, right? I mean take my sister-in-law (disaster prone) who is almost 40 yet looks 32. There is hope. Age is just a number. I do hope though that I am not as prone to disaster as she is one I hit the big 4-0, I can't take many more ugly scars and broken toes. So, here's to being 27. Let the good times roll. . . on my smurf mobile.

Hit on by a Lady
Yesterday I had to venture into PetSmart to grab some food for Mark . . . I mean Lola. I haven't been in the cat room in a while so I decided to drop by. After a few other people left, I went in and socialized with all these precious, yet sick cats. They all accept for two looked like they were all coming down with Feline Upper Respiratory. They were all cute just the same. After I had been in there a minute, a nice woman and her husband walked in. She asked me if I knew a lot about cats and well, yes I do. I have two of my own, worked in a veterinarians office and have done my best to become familiar with them by any sort of reading. Needless to say I know a ton about them. She made me stay in the room so I could interact with a few of the cats so she knew which would be best for her son. The couple had decided they wanted to surprise their 29 year old son with a precious furry something for companionship. Apparently he was recently in a motorcycle accident and they felt he needed a friend.
As I was sitting there petting a few of the animals, still sweating from running, my hair every where and my face bright red, she blurts out "If your single, my son is pretty cute." I was actually quite starteld, told her I was flattered that she thought I was cute seeing the way I looked, but I was married. I actually thought it was funny and then I had a sudden thought. I know it totally doesn't matter at all, because Mark is a hotty po-totty, but I wondered if looking at me she thought that I was just good enough. I mean, what does her son look like? Am I sort of ugly? Is he sort of ugly? It kind of made me drop my self-esteem a bit. All in all it really doesn't matter, but I would like to know what cute is to her. Some people are just out of your league or just don't fit with you. I mean Mark and Angelina Jolie? I don't think so. Me and Matthew McConaughey . . . actually, there's a chance there. Wether someone comes up and asks you a question like that or you see someone hot on TV, you are always going to wonder if you are an "out of leager" of just something to be satisfied with, even when you have Mr. or Mrs. Right. It's intimidating.

I Can
I consider myself a bit of a graphic designer. Yes, I went to school and got a degree in Design Communications, but that's all it did for me. It helped me communicate how I felt about design but not really how to do it. Right now I design books. I want to do so much more but I don't know what, where or how. For the longest time I have been completely down on myself about the things I do because they seem so . . . so . . . already done. I've been struggling to find the place I fit in in the design world. Every time I see something awesome I think 'I can't do that and will never be able to'. Somehow today, my mind changed all that for me. I was watching a making of an animated video and quickly thought to myself 'I can do that'. I caught myself and almost told myself that I must be jerking my own chain, but it's true. I can do it. There are ways and all it takes is a little understanding of time and patience from others. I realized that it's all gravy if you just work hard enough. Now, let's figure out what I want to push towards. Web Design? Animation? Advertising/Marketing? Who knows. I will make one of them work damnit.

August
HOLY FRIJOLES!!! Another month come, another month lost in the dark abyss of our past. August first has arrived. Kids are starting school, those summer vacations are over and I am realizing exactly how fast life comes and goes, as well as how fat my ass is getting. That's beside the point. Actually I really don't think I have any point here because I do this at the beginning of every month. I'm amazed at how quickly it goes and that Christmas will be tomorrow. Blah, blah, blah. Now what do we do with the next 4 months to make 2008 the best year ever? When will I finally be able to stop asking myself that question and just "do". Eh, why can't things just be easier done than said? Anywayth, happy August to all!

Never-ending Battle with Nashvillians
I have had it up to my tee-tas with Nashville traffic. The last two days it's as if half of the Nashvillians out there have targeted me for their little game we know as "I'm a Moron with a license."
Yesterday on my way home, I turn on my blinker to get over in the interstate lane. This guy behind me sipping on his 1200 calorie milkshake sees this and speeds up. The ramp is only a few feet away. My windows are rolled down and I sream "THANKS!" As I slow even more and proceed to get in the lane behind him, he, FOR NO REASON WHAT-SO-EVER, slams on his breaks. I was inches away from ripping of his bumper. It just pisses me off. Listen up morons! When someone puts on their blinker and you have room for them, LET THEM OVER!!! They probably have a good reason for needing to get over. They aren't out to just pull in front of you and go 10 miles per hour under the speed limit. Although there are those jerks too. Well, I"M NOT ONE OF THEM. I have a legitimate reason for needing to get over that this guy was obviously oblivious too. Keep slurping you slurpie dick!
This morning I am making a left turn at a light with the go ahead arrow! Guess what? Some idiot in his damn BMW decides it's ok for his tight wad ass to just go ahead and make a right turn pretty much right into my front bumper. I have other traffic behind me, slam on my brakes, as does he and then just look at him like he's lost him mind. I start to move forward thinking he realized what an horrible law abiding citizen he is and . . . no. He continues to move right across in front of me. IDIOT!!!! YOU HAVE TO YEILD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC STUPID!!!! Almost two wrecks in two days.
So here I am fuming! Now while I am waiting to get on the interstate, there is a little side street to my right and cars are dying to move in front of me. Usually I politely let two or three cars go, but here I am angry. I actually leave room for this one SUV to pull out and guess what!? The car behind him, doesn't even look at me and eagerly tries to pull his butt into the 1 foot space left between my car and the SUV bumper. Of course I had to not move and let him go once traffic started flowing. No thanks, or wave of his hand, the shit face. I said a few choice words though as I watched him squeeze his way in front of me.
I'm on the interstate, and things are running smooth until I get close to my exit. Now, there is a ramp that comes on to the interstate about a mile before my exit. It doesn't merge, but continues to stay a lane. Well this car comes down the ramp and is riding just a few feet in front of me. I have on my blinker to get over but they are too close. I have enough time to speed up and go around. Oh . . . OOOOHHHHHH!!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! DID YOU EVEN SEE ME OR LOOK IN THOSE THINGS CALLED A MIRROR!!!! This stupid, idiotic, moosh for brains person throws on their blinker while simultaneously pulling just inches in front of me into my lane!!! WHY ME! WHAT IN THE NAME PETE DID I DO WRONG!!!! Yes, I cuss, yes I have a dirty thought or two, yes I occasionally roll through a stop sign, yes I like to dance naked through the streets, but really!!!!! This has been ridiculous! Can I make a citizens arrest on really bad, irresponsible, the law doesn't apply to me, PEOPLE!!! I'm tired of this crap. GIVE ME SOME FLOO POWDER DAMNIT!
