27

Today I am 27. It seems like such a short time ago that I was riding on a smurf mobile, eating Cap'n Crunch and watching good cartoons on Saturday mornings holding my blanket and Barbie without a care in the world. Every year runs by much quicker than the other. This last year has been a whirl wind though. Family issues, relationship issues, new houses, new babies, milestones, etc. Every year you turn older you tend to look back and ask yourself if you missed anything. Could you have done something different. Then you realize, HOLY HELL! 40 is 13 years away. I know, I skipped right over 30 to 40. That depressing thought hit me the other day. I know it's not like it's tomorrow or anything, but it's too fast. A lot of my child hood is still so vivid that it's not right for all else to rush up and goose you in the ass! I guess I wouldn't be me if I didn't worry about something I can't control though.
So far I have had an excellent birthday week. I got a new camera. A Rebel XTi. I can't wait to take some pictures for you all and post them. I also have a new nephew. Easton McClure was born yesterday, bright eyed, handsome and healthy. I will post a picture of him here soon as well. Tonight is dinner and a movie and then . . . well, wink, wink. Although 30 and 40 aren't far away, I plan on trying my best to not worry about or think about it. After all, age is just a number, right? I mean take my sister-in-law (disaster prone) who is almost 40 yet looks 32. There is hope. Age is just a number. I do hope though that I am not as prone to disaster as she is one I hit the big 4-0, I can't take many more ugly scars and broken toes. So, here's to being 27. Let the good times roll. . . on my smurf mobile.

  1. Hey, I remember that smurf mobile. I used to push you off it so I could ride. Man, those were some good times. Happy birthday, little sis.
