Valentines day. I used to not really think that I was the type of girl to really care about it. I never wanted a tennis bracelet or diamond earrings. Roses are probably pretty far down on my list of favorite flowers and please, a teddy bear for a twenty something year old. The cliches may work for some but I'm not one who really likes them. I don't sit and wait for that candlelit dinner at some italian bistro. I'm not, however, going to say that Valentines day is a big conspiracy. In fact, I probably had the best Valentines day that I have ever had in my life. I enjoy some chocolates and a little extra love. Twelve years in this relationship and I know that I will never forget this one. I know that to some it may actually seem cliche and not blow that surprise trip to Maui out of the water, but to me it meant the world.
I came home on Saturday night to the biggest bouquet that I have ever gotten. My favorite flowers—pink, white, and yellow Gerber Daisies, surrounded by baby's breath and gorgeous green leaves.
Next, now if you know Mark, you know he is not much of a cook. He doesn't really even know where the pots and pans are located. So I go out on Sunday morning to eat with my mother and I come home to a cute little heart shaped cookie cake. He made it completely by himself and even iced it. Like I said, it may seem a little cliche, but to see Mark do something a little different than he has ever done, really really made me teary. The cake was better than most we get from a cookie store too. We later enjoyed some pizza, snuggled up on the couch, watched a movie together and then the rest, well that's all behind closed doors. It really really was a sweet Valentines especially after the really insane week that he and I have had. I guess ultimately, I felt so completely in love all over again. I know he will probably come across this at some point so, Mark, I hope you know how much I love you and cherish everything about Us. I have my best friend by my side every morning, every day and I fall asleep next to him every night. I'm lucky to have that and even though sometimes it may seem like I forget, I do count my blessings everyday and thank God I found you so early. I love you. Happy Valentines and Happy Birthday.
